Major Applewhite officially tabbed as newish Co-Offensive Coordinator

It's official. Per the "dumpster fire" that is MB-TF:

Mack Brown said Major Applewhite will continue as co-offensive coordinator, but will immediately assume the role of play caller and quarterbacks coach. Wide receivers coach Darrell Wyatt will be promoted to co-offensive coordinator, while offensive line coach Stacy Searels will be elevated to assistant head coach for the offense. Tight ends coach Bruce Chambers, who shared the recruiting responsibilities with Wyatt, will now be the primary staffer handling the recruiting coordinator duties. The Longhorns will be seeking to hire an assistant coach to handle Applewhite's previous role as running backs coach.

Report: Bryan Harsin to be named Arkansas State head coach

Per the college sports blog at my old home town paper, the Dallas Morning News.

Harsin interviewed with the Red Wolves on Tuesday. Bryant said there will be a press conference on Wednesday afternoon to announce Harsin as head coach.

Arkansas State’s last two head coaches, Guz Malzahn and Hugh Freeze, spent one year in the position before jumping to head gigs in the SEC (Auburn and Ole Miss, respectively). Malzahn took the Red Wolves to a 9-3 record this season.

Sigh.

He arrived in Austin and found a smoldering dumpster and then proceeded to elevate the Horns' total offense to ranks of 54 and 37, largely through smoke and mirrors. He'll be missed. Let the speculation begin continue.
