Investigation into Jordan Hicks, Case McCoy is officially closed

Longhorn watcher Mike Finger says it's all wrapped up.

No charges will be filed against two Texas football players investigated last month for their role in an alleged sexual assault at a downtown San Antonio hotel, the Bexar County district attorney’s office confirmed Wednesday.

Per the WWL and Carter Strickland.

"Obviously when you break team rules there's a certain amount of trust that has been broken, and that will be addressed with further discipline," Brown said in a statement. "That discipline will be handled within the team."

Jordan Hicks's lawyer issues press release claiming that San Antonio police will not file charges against either Hicks or Case McCoy in connection with an alleged sexual assault.

Jordan Hicks' attorney is confident in his client's innocence

Perry Minton, the Austin-based attorney whose firm has previously represented Cedric Benson and Augie Garrido has been retained by Jordan Hicks. He clearly states that his client is innocent of any wrongdoing.

I have spent about an hour-and-a-half speaking with Jordan Hicks, and I can say based on that discussion I am very confident that everything that happened from the first drink at the bar to the time everyone said goodnight was entirely consensual and above board. Nothing that was done by him or Mr. McCoy was against the law. Period.

As usual, all caveats about waiting till things become official, letting the police do their job, etc. apply but here's what I've read:

"No arrests have been (the case) is still being currently investigated," Matthew Porter of the San Antonio police told HornsNation's Carter Strickland. "There is no timetable for the investigation" to be handed over to the district attorney, he said.

Brown said he would meet with the team later in the day to explain the situation, and "then you move forward. You have policies that you go by."

The Austin Chronicle ostensibly has some info from the police report:

According to the police report, the alleged victim, a 21-year-old Texas Tech student, told San Antonio police that one of the players entered her sexually while the other watched.

The alleged assault happened at about 2:40am today at the Riverwalk Holiday Inn. The alleged victim reportedly told police that she met the two players at a club last night and invited them to her hotel room.

According to the police report, the alleged victim "had a strong odor of alcohol on her breath and was crying alongside her friend." The alleged victim told police, "I feel ashamed saying this, but I know [REDACTED] was in me. [REDACTED] just stood there and watched. I don't quite remember." The reporting officer noted that he observed bruising on the victim's right knee and left bicep. The alleged victim and both suspects were taken to a nearby hospital for evaluations.

In a press conference this morning, Coach Mack Brown said both accused unnamed players have been suspended "for breaking team rules."
