This is beyond embarrassing if true, and will probably not end well for anyone involved. I can only say that I hope there is enough muscle behind the scenes to make the Governor back down. Whatever side of the political aisle one finds themselves on, it is tough to believe anything other than that Powers has been a tremendous ambassador for the University and has led the school incredibly well through some turbulent times.
