Austin -- Texas Strength and Conditioning Head Coach for Football Bennie Wylie will be named Master Strength and Conditioning Coach by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches (CSCCa), the organization has announced. The award represents the CSCCa's highest honor.
"It's an honor to be considered one of the Master Strength and Conditioning Coaches," Wylie said. "When you have someone like [Assistant Athletics Director for Strength & Conditioning] Jeff Madden and you're put in the same category with him and the other Master Coaches, it's just an unbelievable honor. I'm very proud to be able to join that group. I've been blessed to work with so many great athletes, and this is really a tribute to all the blood, sweat and tears they've put into their work, and I'd like to thank them."
Master Strength and Conditioning Coach Ben Pollard from Georgia State University will present Wylie with the blue MSCC Jacket at a dinner on Thursday, May 10, 2012, at the Marriott World Center in Orlando, Fla.
"It's kind of surreal when you think about all the guys who have put in so much work and so much time to get to the position where it's considered one of the more important parts of a football program," Wylie added. "To just see all of them together at that dinner, it will be great to have my wife, Jen, there just to see that, because she hasn't seen me in an environment like that with all of us in our element. It will be a great event just to be a part of."
“Bennie is very deserving of this award,” said Madden. “Being a Master Strength and Conditioning Coach is the highest award you can achieve in strength and conditioning. We are very fortunate to have Bennie join myself and Donnie Maib. Now the University of Texas has three Master Strength and Conditioning Coaches.”
