These were my thought several hours after the 2012 Texas-OU game. I wanted to repost as the nice win against the #13 OSU Beavers was lulling me back to mediocrity; I suppose for many Orange Bloods and even Mack himself too. We can never forget the slaughter-fest of 2012 and what is signifies for Mack Brown and the Program. I kept it raw and unedited just like it happened today. 10-13-12 I really am getting tired of seeing nice guy Mack Brown run his right hand through his hair. That is what he does after he is bewildered with the play of his team. Love the guy. Best thing for UT’s program since Darrell Royal. But he is over matched. Not because he is dumb or too old. He is too nice. Great recruiter but that is where it ends. The ghost decision of Major Apple will always haunt us loyal Orange Bloods. Mack found relief in Vince Young and almost with Colt McCoy. But seriously, at the risk of sounding spoiled, Mack has had the facilities, the resources and the opportunity to have three rings or more. AND should have. 2009 is a wash, because I think UT wins that game if McCoy is not injured. That team had heart, like 2005. But before and after, and really specifically, since Colt’s injury, Horns have been awful and heads are stuck in the sand. I’m sorry, my friends will call me a traitor, too spoiled and too negative. This year specifically, heck the West Virginia game specifically, terrible red zone play calling causes that loss. Head Coach, where are you? Otherwise thought the offense was good. THE DEFENSE…how does it get that bad? Some of the worst tackling ever. Head coach, where are you? Oklahoma Game….Head coach where are you? Terrible game plan, offensively. A few early first downs changes a lot. But good gosh, Oklahoma is good but not that good. Still, UT can’t make a tackle past the line of scrimmage. The Horns were overrated this season, and played above level while getting some luck and good play from Ash, as in few mistakes….right on! Then the growing stopped. Mack is overmatched because he is too nice. Bob Stoops respects Mack just enough to take his wallet. Mack is overmatched because his teams do not have a chip on their shoulder. Good sportsmanship is great. I want mean, then you help up your opponent. I want to run up the score, so the bench can build confidence and experience. I want less predictable red zone play calling. And for gosh sakes I want a team that can tackle. They look like they are saving themselves for the pros…….I don’t understand. This is painful, because I like Mack Brown. I admit I am angry right now, but so should he. There are enough of us who saw this coming. What a gentleman Mack is. What character, what a turn around he performed. Then, the ghost of Major Applewhite sprang. (The decision to turn his back on the team and give the starting job to the second best QB) This should rightfully be a dynasty. The only non-SEC team to win multiple championships. It is so hard to even get there, but that is why this is so maddening. UT was in perfect position. Does it really need to take a season to see Gilbert can’t play or Simms was not better than Applewhite, or that we are not mean in a mean sport. Somebody get mean fast. That somebody may have to be Deloss Dodds, athletic director.
Be excellent to each other.
