I am not a big donor or even a medium size one. I am just (or at least until this year) an anonymous season ticket holder – one of the tens of thousands that form the solid core of Longhorn Fandom. I am not someone you have to listen to or placate but I do have something to say. Mack it’s time to go.
Other smarter people than me have written about what’s wrong with the team, about the Xs and Os, and the waste of talent. I can’t claim to add anything of much value to that conversation but I know enough about jobs to recognize when someone can no longer do theirs.
The most important ability to have in any job is to be able to recognize what’s good and bad. Without this you cannot succeed. Without this you get this
I bring this up because for months before the season the messages coming out of the Belmont bunker was that the team was finally ready and that after 3 years of wandering the wilderness we had crested the last hill and were ready to look down upon the promised land. Instead we got this.

When you can watch a team practice for weeks on end and cannot honestly assess the quality of that team you are no longer capable of doing the job. When you somehow build a culture where your highly paid assistants lack the skills to identify and fix problems or where they are somehow prevented from doing so you are no longer capable of doing the job. When the team you lead thinks it is okay to do this
you are no longer capable of doing the job.
It's time. Do the right thing Mack.
