The 4* SG from Orlando will be in town this weekend.

2013 shooting guard DeMarcus Croaker from Orlando (FL) Jones will take an official visit to the Texas Longhorns this weekend. The news was first reported by ESPN's Reggie Rankin.

Croaker is a low 4* star recruit, ranked 89th in the nation according to 247 Sports and 132nd overall according to the 247 Composite. Croaker measures at 6' 3", 175 pounds. At that size, he profiles to be a shooting guard in college.

Last fall, Croaker and Texas were heavily linked, with Croaker expected to take a visit multiple times before backing out. According to recruitniks, Croaker had trouble getting an ACT qualifying score that would have allowed him to meet enrollment standards at Texas. Croaker never ended up visiting and instead committed to the Murray St. Racers in December.

Because Croaker committed after the Early Signing Period, he was still just a verbal commitment and had not signed a Letter of Intent. It appears Croaker has now backed out of that commitment in order to visit Texas.

The Longhorns are looking for a shooting guard in the 2013 class. Texas hosted Dallas (TX) Kimball's Keith Frazier, a McDonald's All-American, on an official visit earlier this year. The Longhorns also received an unofficial visit from Richardson (TX) Berkner's Kendal Yancy-Harris, another borderline Top 100 recruit.

Croaker isn't the elite scorer that Frazier is, but like Yancy-Harris, Croaker profiles to be a stronger two-way player, which perhaps better fits Rick Barnes' preferences. At this point anyway, Texas appears to be on the outside looking in for Frazier, who reportedly favors SMU.

[UPDATE] Reggie Rankin's latest post ($) contains more information regarding Croaker's visit and Texas' status in his recruitment. Here's an excerpt.

"I am taking an official visit to Texas this weekend,” Croaker said. “I am going in on Sunday (March 3-5) to check out their game on Monday against Baylor. I like the program, the coaches and how they develop players. Texas is the leader. I don't have a visit set yet with Mississippi."
