Cigarroa to Step Down - What Does it Mean for UT?

Curious as to what the Barkers in the know feel about the news that the Chancellor is going to step down. Seems like really poor timing for Bill Powers given that the next administration, whichever way the election goes, will likely enter office with a far more positive relationship with UT. I'm not even sure how his replacement is chosen - does Perry get to make the selection, or does the BOR select the Chancellor?

I know that Cigarroa was apparently not Perry's pick given that the Statesman article on Ciagarroa's resignation said that Perry told the BOR that he favored John Montford (a former State Senator). Given the current BOR dynamics, I am guessing this will be an interesting process to say the least.

Cigarroa seemed to have a difficult relationship with Powers, but also seemed unwilling to give in to the Perry wing of the BOR and thus was instrumental in preserving Powers' job. The new Chancellor could reverse course and recommend his dismissal.
