The Big 12 has spent the last few years stumping ESPN when it comes to predicting the conference champion. I get the feeling we can do a bit better. A link to ESPN's predictions

Here are my predictions:

1. Baylor - With potentially the best offense in the conference and a stout defensive line and linebacker group, Baylor is primed for another Big 12 title run. They benefit from an easy schedule and get most of the conference's top teams at home. They play at UT early in the season and at OU towards the end, however I think Texas will still be settling in under Charlie when they play Baylor and OU hasn't shown the consistency needed to prove they are at Baylor's level. Despite a questionable secondary, I have Baylor winning the Big 12 title.

2. KSU - With Jake Waters and Tyler Lockett leading a potent Big 12 offense and Ryan Mueller locking down a decent defense, I think KSU will be this year what Baylor was back in 2012. KSU stuggled the first half of the 2013 season trying to adjust to life after Klein, but quickly showed what they were capable of with a solid second half of the season capped off by a dominating win over Michigan. I think KSU is the the team with the fewest questions in the conference and will be a seious Big 12 title contender.

3. OU - Though they are ESPN's favorite to win the title, if Texas has taught me anything these last few years it is to never trust a team that has inconsistent QB play in the Big 12. Though OU will likely have the best defense in the conference (and potentially the country), their offense is suspect.

4. Texas Tech - Davis Webb will continue to command an Air Raid offense that embarrassed Arizona State last season. Though they have a favorable schedule in conference, my gut tells me they won't finish in the top 3.

5. OSU/UT - OSU is a crapshoot. I really want to rank UT higher - heck, it's hard enough not putting them at No.1 - but I'm not willing to change my mind on Texas until I watch a few games. I highly doubt UT wins the conference, but I don't think it's unreasonable to believe they will finish in the top 3, especially since most of the Big 12 teams are still rebuilding and the jury is still out on OU.

7. TCU - Clearly has a strong defense (though not a Strong defense), despite potentially losing Fields after he playfully pointed a gun in his girlfriend's face, but offense has been awful. Would benefit immensely from consistent QB play.

8. WVU - Wasn't good with an NFL talent at QB, even worse with whichever QB's name they draw out of a hat on gameday.

9. ISU - Struggles at QB and a depleted defense = meh.

10. KU - No.

What's your rundown?

Be excellent to each other.
