Is it gambling if you give your winnings away?

Charles Barkley says no.

Four short weeks after the Wynn Casino had to sue Sir Charles for welching on $400 thousand of markers and saying on a TNT broadcast, “For right now, the next year or two, I’m not going to gamble,” Charles decided to get back on the horse. He is entered in a celebrity poker tournament at the 2008 World Series of Poker on July 2. The “Ante Up for Africa” event is designed to raise money and awareness for the crisis in the Darfur region of Sudan.

Charles told ESPN “I have no idea where Darfur is or what is going on there but my buddy Ernie says it’s bad shit there. So I figured the world needed me to play poker, so shuffle up and deal, I’m in.”

Rick Neuheisel, Michael Jordan, Pete Rose, Art Schlichter, and Janet Jones are all also slated to participate.
