With all the talk of “style points” and strength of schedule being bandied about this week, and with the bowl season about to be unleashed, there no doubt will be more talk about the relative strengths of the BCS conferences. Before the bowl matchups between leagues get started, here are some basics
Overall BCS Opponents
Conference W-L […]

North Carolina football coach Butch Davis was at the top of most Tennessee fans wish list to replace Phil Fulmer. But Davis apparently is telling Tennessee thanks, but no thanks.
The Volunteers are 3-7 this year with two games left, at Vandy and Kentucky at home. Tennessee has never lost 8 games in a season. They […]

Went a modest 2-2 last week but lost my 2 unit play. The Great Pumpkin needs to be fired for the effort Tennessee put forth. Goodness I hate Phil Fulmer. My lord.
The wins, however, were routine with Mizzou and Oregon routs. The tOSU game looked to be in the […]

Now that Tommy Bowden has been fired mutually agreed to step down at Clemson, we can look at potential candidates. Muschamp’s name will surface for every job, but I don’t think this is the one. While traveling the internet, I found these guys as potentials (in my order of likelihood):
Lane Kiffin - the […]

Maybe even live up to their preseason ranking at some point.

MGoBlog’s Brian Cook has masterminded a scheme so clever that its best expression could only occur in the Oxbridge accent of a Bond villain. However, instead of threatening you with piranha nipple clamps and a plot to take over world financial markets (too late), MGoBlog brings together whoever is available the elites of the […]

These were the two most impressive teams I watched yesterday. I’m not saying they’re the two best teams in the country, but they both looked great.
The biggest difference between the Trojan teams of the last two years and this year’s team is quarterback play.
Pete Carroll: “Mark (Sanchez) is resourceful in the pocket. That’s an […]

Just before Signing Day, we talked here about the Recruiting Rankings analysis that SMQ performed and he concluded how accurately Rivals was predicting winning percentages.
“Rivals was very, very good at picking the top teams – of the top 25 winningest teams of the last six years, all were either pegged in or very near their […]

Well, at least letting them graduate before taking their scholarship away. Remember the story of Ray Ray McElrathbey? He was the Clemson reserve defensive back/tailback who brought national attention to Bowden & Clemson when he gained custody of his younger brother from his parents who have been battling drug and gambling addictions.
In September 2006, the […]

Wow. The next thing you are going to tell me is that people actually want to see the Spice Girls get back together. Oh, wait.
Reports indicated that Tommy Bowden was set to take over the Arkansas Razorback job late last night for over $2.5 million per year. That will probably end up […]

It was a subpar week going 2-3 but fortunately I hit my two unit play with North Texas to make things even. Nice 74 to 62 defensive struggle for the fightin’ Kathy Irelands. Geez. The only thing standing in the way of my 4th consecutive winning weekend were the Kansas Manginas. […]

As the college season makes the turn for the home stretch, it is clearly time to start talking about who gets whacked — particularly given this weekend’s Battle of the Buyouts in Lincoln. This year’s coaching carousel seems destined to be as bloody as the last 6 episodes of the Sopranos.
Yeah, I’ll fucking […]

Tommy Bowden has lost less than 4 games at Clemson only once, and this year will be no exception. Everyone knows Clemson’s offense is a mess right now except Bowden. He’s got stats that show it’s really not that bad.
“It’s not like we’re throwing a goose egg up there on offense,” he said Sunday. “We’ve […]

Tommy Bowden was unhappy with the questioning he received after beating Furman last Saturday. Furman actually outplayed Clemson in a couple of areas, and reporters wanted to know what Bowden thought about it.
“We won. That’s not something Lloyd Carr can say,” Bowden said.
Tommy, can you hear me?
You’re 63-38 at Clemson.
Tommy, can you see me?
You’ve lost […]

I’ve hated Marc Richt ever since he channeled his inner George McClellan in coming up with the offensive game plan against OU in the 2001 Orange Bowl. How bad was it? It was so bad that afterward Bobby Bowden thought to himself, “Hell, a retard could have come up with that shit” […]
