People bitch and moan about the plethora of bowl games and the lack of enough decent teams to fill them — but still tune in to watch.
So far during the prelims of the 2008-09 Bowl Season, ESPN has seen a sharp spike in ratings. Excluding the two new bowls that started this year (EagleBank–St. Petersburg), […]

Forget about the BCS. Forget about a future playoff system. It’s time to look at what the college post-season is all about.
It’s all about giving.
It’s bailout time for college football teams, and bowl officials are more than happy to perform the role of Congress in doling out the goodies. In fact, for all but one […]

Fox is getting out of college football altogether, deciding that the BCS was not worth $500 million, so the BCS games will be moving to cable.
Starting in 2011, the BCS series will become a part of the Four-Letter Network. In its announcement that it was dropping out, Fox sounded just like the jilted lover stating […]

Our friend dedfischer at The Tortilla Retort has put up his analysis of the line matchups that will be crucial to Saturday’s game.
My thoughts:
This is the best Tech team we’ve seen on the OL & DL in the Mike Leach era. Historically, this is an area where we’ve bludgeoned them. We’ve also played […]

It will be their first ever trip to Lubbock. Duh.

And why shouldn’t they? Their rep as the best conference in the country lets them schedule non-conference games at home against cupcakes while using how they chew each other up in conference play as the main reason for keeping their position as the best conference in the BCS. They sure don’t stray too far from […]

ESPN announced yesterday that Chris, Kirk, Lee, and Desmond (how does he still draw a paycheck?) are going to be in Gainesville for the Miami-Florida match-up. That should tell you how shitty this week’s games are since this is not 2001 and Florida is favored by 3 touchdowns.
That will be Florida’s 28th appearance on […]

OK, not really. ESPN re-ran their piece last night on The Rant and its effect on Reid from April. But somehow, I missed it the first time around.
REID: “It was a lie.”
INTERVIEWER: “How does it make you feel when they say, ‘It was a lie. It wasn’t geniune.’”
GOLFPRICK: “It […]

The four-letter network is going to pay the Southeastern Conference $2.5 Billion over a 15 year period — about $150 million a year – for the Conference’s TV rights to any and all content not taken by CBS.
This ESPN deal matches up with the 15-year pact the SEC signed with CBS, both will run from 2010-2025.
The […]
