The Rivals’ Kansas State site is reporting that Patterson has agreed to terms with KSU to become their next head coach.
I haven’t seen it reported anywhere else yet, but that’s a good hire if true.
Update: Kansas State AD is denying it.

It was interesting to read the national media yesterday, and discover a few things. Namely- everybody saw the UT-TT game, everybody thought it was a terrific game (really a great promotion for the B12), and people are impressed with both teams. I got to thinking about where it ranked in the history of big games […]

At the beginning of this decade the late Jim Wacker was Athletics Director at Texas State (nee Southwest Texas State).

Well, the long awaited debut of Gary Johnson took place in a weird 4 pm time-slot yesterday vs. the Horned Frogs. And you know what? The team played weird. Lackluster. Lackadaisical. Lethargic. Pick your adjective. Give TCU credit, they came out and shot the eye out of the ball, […]

Gaining some momentum, I’m now a solid 14-10-2 overall and a perfect 4-0 on double unit plays. Up 8 units minus juice ain’t too shabby.
All plays 1 unit unless stated otherwise. Here are the plays.
Southern Miss +11 @ Boise State. Yes, I realize this game is being played on the smurf turf, but this isn’t […]

Well, I’m 9-8-1 overall but 3-0 on double unit plays for a decent +4 units for the year. It’s been a below average run, but I’m still making money. The good news is that I really, really like this week’s card. I like it more than Chooky likes frosted tipped boy bands, […]

So far, so mediocre. We’re pimping a pedestrian 5-5 thus far on posted plays but still up 2 units by going 2 and 0 on the Big 12 game of the week 2 unit plays. Still, not what we’re used to. A wise man once said,”Girls are sadistic, materialistic, looking for a […]

Thanks to the brain trust at Fox Sports Net, I finally got an almost full game tape of the TCU game yesterday afternoon. If you are like me and were in DKR, you got home and found the better part of the first half cut out due to the Aggie game going three overtimes.
I […]

I was scheming when I wrote this, forgive me if it goes astray. We finished the first half with 37 yards rushing. That’s actually more than I thought we’d get, but we totally dominated TCU in the 2nd half and gained 139 yards. So what did we do differently? A couple of things. A couple […]

A tale of two halves. Or the haves and have-nots. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times; it was a win.
Also, absent several vodka sodas with lime while writing this review, I will correctly identify TCU as a Division I opponent. That will then lend […]

A terrible win against a mediocre team.

Fresno St 4th and goal on the Aggie 3. Ten seconds left.
Touchdown!
/worst. blitz. ever.
Fresno used their final timeouts and had to go for the xtra point. Overtime.
They haven’t switched to the Texas game yet. In Austin. Why not just show ‘Heidi?’
Franchione looks like he’s reading a ‘Dear John’ letter on the sidelines.
Third and seven and […]

1. Hills/Blake and Ulatoski/Ortiz. This matchup will determine the game, imo. Not only does Colts passer rating take a nose dive when he is throwing from under a pile. If the ASU game is any indication, he’s frustrated right now and not in the right frame of mind. We MUST protect this house.
2. Variety. Spice […]

Should you be concerned with . . .
. . . Our run game: Not yet. We showed essentially the same, dysfunctional game plan that we had last year. We went into the cosmetic surgeon in the offseason and came out looking like the cat lady. We did a few things to help, like a speed […]

2007 Longhorn Defense… What to Expect? The Unexpected
Defense wins championships. My 6th grade PE teacher taught me that. He also taught us that if you wear early 80’s style running shorts during the hurdler’s stretch, people could see your junk. So, in honor of Coach Papa, and the fact Colt […]

When the Southwest Conference broke up, I never thought I’d be writing about any of the teams that didn’t join the Big 12 ever again. They were like your high school friend who didn’t go to college. You’d bump into him every now and again, but you no longer had anything really to talk […]

FACT: you still need to field at least two linebackers in run situations. FACT: We do not have two good linebackers. Kindle shows promise but looks drunk when he tries to read a play and make a tackle. His DWI was a result of getting pulled over in 7 on 7 when he could not […]

As if it wasn’t going to be hard enough already for TCU to score an offensive point against Texas, they’ll now have to do it without their starting left tackle. Senior Wade Sisk tore his ACL in practice and will miss the entire season. That leaves TCU with only two returning starters on the offensive […]
