I had an opportunity to rewatch the game against UTEP on DVR and had a few thoughts to share, a couple of which challenged some assumptions I’d made when watching the game live from a sports bar in Anchorage, AK. The film doesn’t lie though, so away we go…

First, Greg Davis did just fine […]

I had hoped that Brown would at least change it to “Rolling (with the) Tide” in deference to his colleague, Mike Price, but no luck there.
“Give El Paso credit; this place was electric,” Brown said. “They surged at the first of the game. Then our guys stood up and handled it.”
It is nice to […]

While this game did indeed last four quarters, it was effectively over with at twelve minutes left in the fourth quarter. After Rod Muckelroy returned a fumble for a touchdown, both coaches threw in the towels and there was nothing left to learn from watching.

The only thing that should concern Texas about UTEP’s defense is that the Miners run a defense I can’t recall a Mack Brown Texas team having ever faced before: the 3-3-5. There’s only a handful of teams that run this defense at the D1 level, the most prominent being West Virginia. It’s more popular at […]

As a native El Pasoan I thought it would be a good idea to educate the Barker readership on what to expect when visiting this fair West Texas city in the Western most part of this great state. Before making any judgments on what I’m about to tell you, please keep in mind the […]

Lamarr Houston will miss the UTEP game as a result of his arrest for DWI yesterday morning. No surprise. Aaron Lewis will start in his place.

Kirby Freeman’s career at Baylor came to an end last night after one quarter of football. Freshman Robert Griffin is the present and future of Baylor football. Unfortunately, his immediate future is only going to lead to a single win over Northwestern State. Wait ’till next year, Baylor. Left tackle Jason Smith is a player […]
