Yes, Kindle was there but not participating because of a knee surgery. Somebody is gonna draft him, just by looking at him.

Ellis was sucking wind today. I figured he would be in better shape than he was.

Ellis' speed was a weakness as a DE. Hence the move to DT. Jackass.

I don't care how fast Rivals says Ellis is, I know when a DT is the first one into the line every play. He's long and disruptive, he plays low with a flat back just like Harris did, and he uses his arms just as well. He doesn't have Harris' burst, but who does?

"[Brian Ellis is] Tommie Harris good, except he’ll actually produce in college."

The two weaknesses that scout.com noticed on Brian Ellis were speed and technique. Those were Tommie Harris' greatest strengths.
Rivals.com projected him as a strongside defensive end since he came to at 6'5", 244 lbs. Tommie Harris came to OU around 6'3", 280.

Looking at Ellis, it appears that he expected to come in at DE and UT's shell game of defensive coordinators wasted his talent.

"I don’t know. I tend to evaluate guys based on gut reaction, and Buckner doesn’t really “feel” like an early playing time candidate to me."

Buckner and Williams will both see a lot of snaps at split end.

I actually took great care to use 'most talented' instead of 'best,' since I agree with you. I find it really troubling that the guy is so good and can't find his way onto the field yet, even in garbage time. Same with Chykie Brown.

What little I have seen of Ellis, though, was tremendous. He was easily the defensive MVP of his first spring game. And I know the coaches think very highly of him, as a player anyway. We'll just have to see. I'm prepared to see him transfer out this summer, and have Humphrey take his place as the talented unknown.

How can you possibly say that Brian Ellis is the best 3 technique DT we've had since Rogers? He hasn't played a down for us in two years, didn't play DT in high school, and has gained 40-50 pounds since the last time he saw meaningful action on a football field.

The guy seems like a complete unknown to me. Besides, being bad in the classroom isn't enough to explain why he was behind Alexander and Marshall in the pecking order last year. He was still eligible last fall.

I think Jarvis Humphrey the guy we should be keeping an eye on, not Ellis.
