Burnt Orange Beat’s 2010 Top 125 in Texas

Now is the time to identify whom you think Texas should recruit, and then violently mock those who disagree with you. I’ll start. Anyone who doesn’t think that Jackson Jeffcoat is the best defensive end to come out of Texas in the last 15 years is a cross-dressing Nazi.

It’s free.

Jerry Scarbrough has a massive mancrush on D.J. Jones. He has him listed above Seastrunk.

And he thinks we can get both of them now. Just imagine a group of those two, plus Whaley, Fozzy, and Cody Johnson… all running sideways…

Looks like everyone west of I-35 sucks next year.

Jerry has become extremely partial the last few years. This is the same guy who said Ramonce would be a better fit at Texas than Adrian Peterson. Give me a break. What will he say when the sooners get McFarland? He also doesn’t rank Sheppard as high as he should be rated.

Wait a minute…I saw a McCoy on there. Graham counts. There’s got to be a Wichita Falls dude on there somewhere. No Abileners?

Someone needs to post the AAS All Big 12 team, so we can rip that thing apart. It baffles me that a stiff like Sean Weatherspoon makes the 1st team at LB for the last two years. Rylan Reed made the 1st team and he’s not even Tech’s best lineman. Plus, there’s 3 left tackles. I guess we’ll have to play an unbalanced set. Is Kindle really a LB?

    Does Killeen count?

It’s a shame that all the Lufkin folks seem dissapointed in McFarland. His recruitment is all we have to look forward to this January. I’ll go on ahead and keep pretending its a life or death decision.

There were a handful of Dallas guys in the pressbox in Waco on Saturday who had seen Jones play. The consensus opinion was that he was solidly built and productive, but he didn’t do anything to wow you.

I also noticed the AAS wants to roll with 7 safeties and 1 corner. Good luck with that.

Could Jerry be getting a little senile in his old age?

We have a good shot to land at least seven out of that top 10.

I’m particularly enamoured with Ahmad Dixon and Corey Nelson.

Nice list from Billy Bragg & Wilco or whatever they call themselves over there.

They have Eric Waters (TE, 6-3, 215, 4.7), Mansfield Summit, listed as #111. That’s too high.

The next time he runs a 4.7 40, I’ll have screaming monkeys come flying out of my ass.

A 6-5, 285, 5.1 OLB at #6 just begs the question. Several, maybe.

I think the Darrell Scott ordeal completely turned me off recruiting. Oh I still know their names and have seen their highlights, but I have no idea which way McFarland is leaning. Same with Kennard, Jarvis Jones, the CB from Alabama whose name escapes me, etc.

    Nordberg,

Just to make it easy on you, we’re not getting any of those dudes. We might get AJ Dugat. Rex Burkhead could still be a possibility.

    That’s it.

2 Conroe Tigers in the top 125- Holla. This may be the most talented team they’ve had since a certain slow, unathletic tight end was with them back in the 80’s (And, no, I’m not talking about Brad Hoelting, he went to McCullough).

Nordberg: Also imagine a run blocking scheme that is properly designed, practiced and implemented!

Again, the fact that we can’t get McFarland is truly mystifying.

Were not getting any? Wtf? No more white guys like Rex b. I’ve seen enough through hideon and Brock landers. Why are we whiffing on the five stars again ? Mus needs to step it up then he is not off to a good start if we can’t get one of those guys.
