Charles and Finley file NFL draft paperwork

The Dallas Morning News reported that ‘two sources close to the players’ indicated that both Jamaal Charles and Jermichael Finley have filed the necessary paperwork to see where they’ll be drafted.

Mack Brown said that all Texas’ underclassmen have told him they’ll be returning, and my gut feeling is that both Charles and Finley will return next year. Charles will probably look at how both Ricky Williams and Cedric Benson improved their draft status by returning for their senior years.

If both players do go pro, Texas will be in a world of hurt at running back and tight end. There is a big dropoff in talent from starter to backup at each position.

Maybe if they go GD will be completely exposed next year and get canned. At least it is a hopeful thought.

Money and their comfort level with program is the issue with both. I don’t have insider information, but I don’t think either stay.

JC’s body language and attitude on the sidelines (includes taking himself out of games last season) indicates a guy ready for a change.

Even though I think Jammal may have been the best player on the team by season’s end I think he will cost himself some big bucks if he leaves. Can’t blame him if he does. Jermichael is another matter. His so so year was not entirely Davis’ fault. I’m not sure how you come out when you may not be any better than the 4th or 5th best player at your position in the Big 12. I’m not saying he couldn’t be the best. He just hasn’t shown it and/or given the chance. If either one of them leave could it be more than just money as the factor?

If both of those guys go pro, the Alamo Bowl would be an accomplishment

An Alamo Bowl berth is an accomplishment no matter who is on the team. San Antonio is where dreams come true for student athletes. It takes a unique combination of talent, drive, luck and brilliant coaching for a team to earn the right to play for all the marbles in the Alamo Bowl.

That said, the Holiday Bowl is even better!

ESPN is also reporting that Chase Daniel is filing. Hopefully these filing are of similar type, just info gathering.

Chase Daniel? I’d be surprised if that guy even got drafted after his senior year.

Why? Daniel is short, fat, and self-impressed. He’s already got one of the pre-reqs for the NFL.
