Football team graduates fourteen

Four of them are/were on scholarship. And let’s face it, there is a difference.

The players who graduated this weekend were Coy Aune, Rashad Bobino, Todd Bondy, Michael Flath, Stephen Lane, Mark and Matt McCoy, Chris Ogbonnaya, Jaicus Solis, Michael Taylor, Freddy Torres and Clayton Tefteller. Former Longhorn players Roderick Babers and Dakari Pearson also graduated.

“It means a whole lot to me and my family to actually receive my degree and still have another year of eligibility to play,” Bobino said. “It also gives me a chance to go to grad school, and it really didn’t hit me until today that I’m about to walk. I’ll be the first one in my family to graduate from a four-year university. I’m also the first one to come here and play ball. There are a lot of firsts, so it’s a really big thing for them and a really big thing for me.”

Congratulations to them all.

Bobino has taken (deserved) shots over the years for on the field moves, but he deserves recognition for being the first in his family to graduate from college.

    That’s a helluva accomplishment.

Didn’t Coy Aune’s dad play QB for the Horns?

“Didn’t Coy Aune’s dad play QB for the Horns?”

Jon Aune. He was one of the QB’s in 1977 who was injured and helped make Randy McEachern a Longhorn household name.

In the 1977 OU game, Mark McBath was the starter. He injured his ankle on a keeper and was done.

Aune came in and a couple of series later, he ripped his knee while being hit handing off to Earl Campbell. McEachern came in for a few plays, but Aune tried to come back. He retreated to pass, and dropped untouched, as his knee gave way for good.

Typical negativity and venom from the BC.

We have E. Gordon Gee to thank for this. Pass the lighter fluid.

Didn’t Andy Katzenmoyer minor in couch conflagration?
