God damn you, Jeff Fisher.
Seriously, Jeff? Another running back?
The Titans came into this draft knowing they needed a playmaker at wide receiver. Someone who can actually get separation from the defender in man coverage. Someone who can actually get open deep.
Instead they went for yet another running back because that’s all Jeff Fisher knows. Conservative offense. Run the ball and play defense. Lendale White, Chris Henry and now Chris Johnson.
And the could have had their choice of receivers. None had been taken when the Titans made their pick. Now there will be a run of receivers in the second round, and they have to hope someone they like is still available at #54.
Frustrating.

Frustrating & typical.
Miami’s streak of having a player taken in the first round every year since 1995 stays alive. Kenny Phillips is the last player taken in the first round by the Giants.
April 26, 2008 at 2:46 pm
I cursed that Giants pick.
Still have Sweed, Hardy, Kelly and Jackson on the board.
April 26, 2008 at 3:28 pm
No WRs in round one.
FiveSixEIGHT taken in round two so far, none named Sweed. Can he make it to TENN? And if he does, will they trade the pick to Chicago for the wrong Adrian Peterson?
April 26, 2008 at 3:30 pm
And whatever idiot sold Jamal on being a first round pick. Or even a second at this point.
April 26, 2008 at 3:32 pm
Jamaal already said he thought he’d go in the second round. He never thought he’d go in the first.
April 26, 2008 at 3:33 pm
Something is going on with Sweed. Six receivers taken in front of him?

April 26, 2008 at 3:58 pm
Who is left on the board at this point? Manningham?
April 26, 2008 at 3:58 pm
Sweed a Steeler. Seems like a good fit for him.
Caldwell, Doucet? I hope they take Doucet.
April 26, 2008 at 4:26 pm
Guy, you need to shut the fuck up. You’re bitching yourself into ignorance. Chris Johnson is a multi-purpose player that Dinger can work all kinds of magic with. He can play receiver. He can play RB. He can also return kicks, and he can shut you the fuck up this coming season when he takes some touches back for touchdowns.

SPO - Bringing the heat. So you are saying he can takeover parts of the PacMan role sans the accompanying milk bar thundershowers?
April 26, 2008 at 9:55 pm
WTF
I ask for nothing much-a reciever in the first round, hell-even the second, yet I get two more combine freaks that in all likelihood will not translate to the NFL, and Im stuck with Justin McCairens, Justin Gage, Roydell Williams, and Algae Crumpler. great job drafting.
April 26, 2008 at 10:57 pm
Whats the point?
Vince can’t get him the ball anyway.
Spend your high picks on people that he HANDS the ball to. Sounds like a sound strategy to me.
April 26, 2008 at 11:16 pm
titans drafted 3 wrs last year. they plan on making men outta boys. we’ll see…
April 27, 2008 at 4:46 am
4-words. Dismantling of a franchise.
Seriously, what the hell are the Titans doing? Mendenhall would have been a great pick up at #24 if he was still on the board, but instead of taking a quality player at a position of need (WR-Devin Thomas/Limas Sweed or DE-Phillip Merling) we get some kid who everyone called a 2nd-3rd round pick and the front office admits that they have no balls and no confidence in their other running backs.
Vince needs to get the hell out of Tennessee quick.
April 27, 2008 at 8:41 am
good job getting a crappy TE out of cal who will be another ben hartsock, and then another d-lineman from a school nobodys heard of
April 27, 2008 at 8:42 am
So far the Titans have drafted a 2nd rounder, 4th rounder, 6th rounder, and a free agent. Whoever is drafting for the Titans has no concept of “draft value” or trading down.
April 27, 2008 at 10:25 am
If the Steelers didnt prove themselves as a championship team, and didn’t take either Mendenhall or Sweed, would the Titans would have? I’m starting to wonder if they would have. Fucking A man, how could they draft this poorly?
You know, this is the second year that I’ve thought “well, I almost can’t wait for next year’s draft” before the draft was even over.

VY + Chris Johnson + no WRs
1st down: Zone read
2nd down: Option
3rd down: RB screen
Rinse and repeat FTW.
April 29, 2008 at 6:39 am
Can we now safely say that Jeff Fisher did NOT want to draft VY in 06? It was Titans managment that made that pick, probably not even b/c they liked VY, but just to screw with Houston fans.

Saw on ESPN that their 2009 mock draft has Crabtree going to the Titans next year. Dreams can come true.
