Greg Davis gets a well deserved raise
He’s now making $425,000 a year according to the Statesman. That’s almost twice what I’m getting paid for this blog so there’s at least one person out there who is more overpaid than Davis.
That’s $75,000 more than he earned last year and the same salary as new DC Will Muschamp. Mac McWhorter, Bobby Kennedy and Bruce Chambers all received raises.
Former DC Duane Akina will keep the same salary as last year, $300,000. That’s one dollar for each passing yard given up by his defense.
None of the defensive assistants received raises.

Yep, and Mack Brown made all the right moves after the A&M nightmare. Kirk Bohls and Clendon Ross told us so.
The more things change, the more they stay the same. Just win ten, baby!

Greg Davis owes the University a refund for every dollar he has ever been paid.

Texas’s offense scored 4 TD’s in 2 years against the Aggies. 1 of those came after an interception return to the 8 yd. line.

Greg is one hell of a coach. It takes a real genius to make my defense look good.

When the earth has completed a rotation of the ball of fire, the same shall be said amongst men.
In other words, I predict this same shit will go on again next year.

I am SHOCKED Greg didn’t get a Head Coaching offer.

It’s written into my contract that I make more than Huckleberry. Davis must have a similar deal.
January 24, 2008 at 9:24 am
Wonder how Giles and Kennedy really feel about THE MAJOR (TM) coming in at $250K?
January 24, 2008 at 9:39 am
Huckleberry actually has to pay us to let him write. So your zero dollar salary is still more than he makes.

Davis and Muschamp are both making more than 30 D1 Head Coaches including every MAC and Sun Belt coach.
For that matter, Akina is making more than 20 D1 coaches.
I do like the statement about NO defensive coaches getting a raise.

Are there any OCs in the country making more than Davis? Jimbo Fisher perhaps?
January 24, 2008 at 11:03 am
Reminds me of the Chevy Chase/ Richard Pryor skit. “Okay, you are now the higest paid janitor in the country.”
January 24, 2008 at 11:23 am
For a second, I thought this said “Greg Davis gets well deserved Praise.” Then I laughed at my mistake.

Gary Crowton was making $400K last year. I assume winning the MNC gets you a raise.

I have elected not to comment lest I lose my OU tickets.

From the Statesman article:
Jimbo Fisher of Florida State likely is the highest-paid offensive coordinator in college football. Florida State raised his annual salary to $625,000 in mid-December, when the Seminoles announced that Fisher would succeed Bobby Bowden as head coach when Bowden decides to retire.
UCLA’s new offensive coordinator, Norm Chow, will earn $1 million in 2008, but the bulk of his salary will come from the Tennessee Titans, the NFL team that fired him after the 2007 season.
A sampling of college football’s top-paid offensive coordinators in 2007. Private schools such as Notre Dame and Miami are not required to publicly disclose coaching salaries.
Jimbo Fisher Florida St. $420,000
Gary Crowton LSU $400,000
Larry Fedora* Oklahoma St. $393,000
Greg Davis Texas $351,000
David Cutcliffe^ Tennessee $340,000
*now the head coach at Southern Mississippi
^now the head coach at Duke

GD got a raise so he wouldn’t whine that WM made more $. I don’t like to see Oscar Giles and Tolle penanized for Mack’s philoshical differences with MacDuff.
January 24, 2008 at 7:56 pm
that’s “penalized” and “philosophical”. Sorry.
January 25, 2008 at 6:01 am
Wait a minute. I think I’ve got it. If we don’t hand the all to Charles more than 17 times against decent competition we lose. Do I get a raise?
January 26, 2008 at 2:17 pm
GD’s payscale obviously is tied to his ability to blow. And he’s also proved he can suck as well, hence the large raise.
