Guy Morriss out at Baylor

According to the Houston Chronicle.

Morriss is 18-38 at Baylor in five seasons, and Baylor has lost 10 straight conference games. They’ve had 2 winning seasons since Grant Teaff retired in 1992. Neither Chuck Reedy, Dave Roberts, Kevin Steele nor Morriss have been able to produce.

The top candidate to replace Morris is Mike Singletary.

I don’t think Singletary is the guy. They don’t think he’s ready and believe they can get someone with more experience. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Briles’ name floating around, but some folks think he’s holding out for the gig in Lubbock, if Leach leaves in the next couple of years. They may pull one out of left field for this one. They’ll interview Singletary out of courtesy, but he’s more of a Plan B guy from what I’m being told.

Well shit, I guess I should have read the article first.

We’ve heard the Not Ready wrap on Singletary before, but I’ve got to think this guy is their best shot if they ever want to dig out of that hole and flirt with respectibility. He went to school there, so he might be loyal. He’s fiery, adn I bet he would be a decent recruiter. He’s there best case.

He’s like a black Kevin Steele or something.

Chris Peterson will probably not be able to coach this weekend since he will eagerly waiting by the phone for Baylor’s call.

I’m still shaking my head in amazement that Odell James picked Baylor over Nebraska. Talk about your all-time dumbass decisions.

Ranks right up there with Alabama passing on The Major. Speaking of where’s my daily dose of Applewhite?

Odell James, now there’s a blast from the past.

College football needs more Odells. Although for great names (American Samoa division excluded), it’s still hard top Wycliffe Lovelace.
