I got something to say

I killed your baby today
And it doesn’t matter much to me
As long as it’s dead

Pretty hardcore lyrics. Now imagine them being sung with a catchy, almost pop chorus by a 5′3″ dude who grew up reading comic books and watching horror b movies.

That was The Misfits.

They were a horror punk band from New Jersey led by lead singer Glenn Danzig. Only recording three albums before going their separate ways, they remain hugely popular among punk rock fans. And for good reason. Metallica’s Cliff Burton was a fan, and Metallica recorded covers of three Misfits songs.

Static Age (recorded in 1978, released in 1997)

My favorite album of theirs.

Last Caress

Bullet

Attitude

Hybrid Moments

Walk Among Us (1982)

This is their classic punk album.

I Turned Into A Martian

Skulls

Astro Zombies

Earth A.D. (1983)

Harder, faster almost thrash sound on this album that was released after the band had broken up.

Green Hell

Die Die My Darling

    Black Flag was better.

The misfits are certainly my favorite punk band. Danzig is quite the character.

for those who haven’t seen it…Danzig getting knocked out is pretty sweet:

Can’t believe you missed “Where Eagles Dare”.

Its a bit different from the rest of their songs. A lot different, actually, but Cough/Cool is my favorite Misfits song. Followed closely by Where Eagles Dare and Last Caress, of course.

Speaking of “Where Eagles Dare,” Iron Maiden kicked ass last night in San Antonio.

Is Richard Hell and the Voidoids next?

I always got Richard Hell and Richard Marx confused.

    Richard Marx is next.

    Wherever you go
    Whatever you do
I will be right here waiting for you
    Whatever it takes
    Or how my heart breaks
I will be right here waiting for you

When are you going to stop lying to yourself and do a Yanni post?

Y’all should also check out a Danzig-written song that Johnny Cash covered called “Thirteen”. Ignore the video of this clip as it was the only one I could find that has the actual audio of the released version.

“I was born in the soul of Misery
    Never had me a name….
They just gave me the number when I was young.”

    Enjoy:

Die, Die My Darling is one of my favorite songs of all times. And the Metallica cover is also fucking awesome.
