Every time I hear Mack or GD mention explosive plays, I feel like punching myself in the face. They wouldn't know explosive if they were on the road to Karbala driving a Hummer with Jews for Jesus painted on it.

During the Mack era, as everyone knows, we win through recruiting.

Just accept this fact and you will be less irritated by this season, where Texas has less of a talent advantage than usual.

Well said BrickHorn. GD is a fucking IDIOT!

I know Colt may not be 100%. I realize JC (despite this last performance) has lost some of his zip/fire. I am aware that we lost some studs on the offensive line.

But, we should be able to coach/play our way around these 'deficiencies' until they are developed/corrected. Running the same, boring, easily defended and PREDICTABLE plays is not the answer.

Why is it that every time I hear Mack or GD mentions explosive plays, I feel the need to go blow one out in the toilet?

It didn't take long for Davis to take credit for everything. Forget that he didn't actually implement the play until Colt got hurt and Charles got the long run with Chiles in the game:

"I had talked to Colt earlier in the week about being able to use (the zone read) more, and we used it several times," offensive coordinator Greg Davis said. "Colt had an explosive run on it, and Jamaal had several explosive runs on it."

"I find it amazing that not only do the some 10 million or so Longhorn fans see the problems with our play calling ... but all the TV announcers and experts comment on it."

I was just shaking my head every time the ABC broadcast team made an obvious observation about our befuddling coaching decisions. If uninformed talking heads can watch just ONE Texas game all year and figure out every single boneheaded move by our staff, then why can't our goddammed payed professional coaches figure it out?

The fact that GD went into a game against the #115 run defense in the country and decided that hurling the ball all over the field was the best strategy to win and ONLY turned to the running game in the 4th quarter after his brilliant strategy had accounted for a mere 6 points - and even then only by complete accident - is simply mind-boggling. How fucking stupid is Greg Davis? What kind of moron proclaims brashly that he follows a "take what the defense gives you" philosophy, only to decide - after a week of thorough preparation and study - that what one of the worst run defenses in the country gives you is the pass? God dammit, that MFer is a drooling imbecile.

GD from everything that I have heard is a wonderful man, an excellent QB coach and of course Mack's best friend. That said, I just finished re-watching the game on ESPN Classic and I find it amazing that not only do the some 10 million or so Longhorn fans see the problems with our play calling (I know, most of us posters have not coached a winning Super Bowl team so our observations and opinions are not valid), but all the TV announcers and experts comment on it.

I appreciat all that Mack has done, but sometimes I just wonder what might have been had Mack cared more about The University of Texas than he cares about keeping his friends in jobs.

As a Husker fan, I find it incomprehensible that Texas didn't win by 21+ and didn't rush for 400+ yds. Just be thankful that Li'l Gnomie was more incompetent than Mack the Hack in the 4th quarter. As an aside, has there ever been that much total coaching ineptitude gathered for one game in the history of college football? All we were missing from a perfect storm of coaching catatonia was Charlie Weis ....
