Men are from Mars, Stoops is on Pluto
From the New York Times’ Pete Thamel:
“There are only two locker rooms I’d ever seen where the players were devastated.
One was the U.S.C. locker room after Matt Leinart and the Trojans lost the national title to Texas in the Rose Bowl. I remember Leinart sitting alone on a bench, eating a turkey sandwich and a chocolate chip cookie and drinking a Gatorade. It was kind of surreal that his whole senior year had come down to that.

“The other was the Oklahoma locker room after the Sooners lost to Boise State in what many consider the greatest finish to a college football game. That would be the Ian Johnson, Statue of Liberty, hook-and-ladder game. The most bizarre scene from that locker room was Oklahoma Coach Bob Stoops just standing by himself, staring off into the ether. It’s rare to see a head coach alone anywhere, anytime. But Stoops could have been on Pluto, and no one at that second was going to visit.”

Bob Stoops has some bad secrets. Some day they will come out. Until then it’s golf prick 24/7.

And then the Boise dude proposed. Epic.

He’s been very approachable six times after the Texas game.

Whatever.
Stoops is a prick whether he wins or loses. He held the crystal trophy in 2003 like he wanted to crush it because a backup DB missed a tackle in the second quarter. He still sends the kid anonymous hate mail delivered late at night by Jerry Schmidt under cover.
I guess Stoops has enough Big 12 trophies to break a few when he wants to. But that doesn’t make your visor boy any less of a prick.
Clap clap.

Vasherized,
Out of curiosity, have you ever met Stoops in person, or are you basing your entire opinion on what you’ve seen on TV and read in print about the coach of your rival?

That cheerleader standing behind Leinart to make sure his horns are in all the press photos is awesome.

Leinart has to be a football prick, sitting there eating a turkey sandwich and chocolate chip cookie.

Yeah, we have a weekly poker game. He raises me every time, no matter the hand. He usually storms off after flipping the table over. Nice guy though. Even his kids like him every once in a while.
Do you need to meet Mack Brown to form an opinion about him? I’ve seen enough of Stoops roaming the sidelines during games and in press conferences/interviews to form a general opinion of the guy. I’ve also read his unpublish autobiography called “What Happened That Night … That Made Me A Prick.”
Mack Brown is a nice guy. One has beaten the other more often. Is there a correllation? Maybe.

no argument. he is a prick to the media. one of my closest buddies (ou alumn) interviews players/coaches for espn and other media outlets and said that the only coach worse to deal with was Snyder.

Mack gives more hugs.

Why is Lt. Commander Data bothering Matt Leinert in that photo?

Correlation does not imply causation. Or is it the other way around?
One of the two, anyway.
