Mike Leach interviewing for Washington job?

A passenger on a flight to Seattle from Las Vegas today says he’s positive Leach was on his flight. He said Leach was wearing a baseball cap, t-shirt and tennis shoes. That does sound like something Mike Leach would wear. That’s probably something he’d even wear to a job interview.

The Tech SID could neither confirm nor deny the story “saying he didn’t know where Leach was today.” I bet you could call that dude on any day, and he wouldn’t know where Leach was. I imagine Leach spends the offseason living like Kurtz in ‘Apocalypse Now.’

“Should we maybe run some plays or something, coach?”

Sucks to be Tech. They go 11-1, and their head coach interviews at a school that just went winless.

Leach: “What did they tell you?”

UW AD: “They told me that you had gone totally insane, and that your methods were unsound.”

    Leach: “Are my methods unsound?”

UW AD: “I don’t see any method, at all.”

    Leach: “Arrrr.”

This (which has been updated by an interested party) gives a taste of what it’s felt like to be a UW fan lately. Hitler reacting to the 2008 Apple Cup:

Hitler was probably not a Willingham supporter.

I figured that he was a lock for Washington.

Leach has gotta stop and consider whether Stoops’ cock will stretch that far. I mean, a man’s gotta eat.

It has got to be a real bitch to be 11-1 and be gearing up for the Cotton Bowl against an SEC also ran. I would probably look around too. Only one Goliath to contend with in the Pac 10.

I think Leach knows 2008 was his one shot. It will be several years before the combination of a strong, experienced team and a favorable schedule will come around again. It’s time to reap the rewards and move on. Washington seems the perfect fit for him.

Don’t think he’s just trying to squeeze more money out of Tech with the UW interview?

Am I the only person that doubts that a coach interviewing for probably a million dollar gig would fly commercial?

I know they suck and all but I’d bet they could get a private plane to fly a prospective coach to interview.

But some people who frequent the internet seem to be able to track the planes used by schools when they fly people in to interview.

As long as it’s a one-stop with a change, Leach has a chance to blend in. Just his luck to sit by a football fan.

I would be interested in seeing what he could do at a prime recruiting ground. That may or may not be Washington.

They guy’s only had one Crabtree. What if he had like 4?

Maybe UW is spending all its money on Willingham’s buy-out clause. At least, I don’t think his contract is up yet. And so Leach flies economy…

It’s being reported that he’s staying, but I won’t believe it until he’s signed a new contract at Tech. I’m not sure what the Tortilla Retort would turn into, if McNeill was our next head coach. I might lose it. Not due to anger, but insanity.
