Ron Prince’s contract
Base salary $143,000
Guaranteed contract $1.1 million
Incentives
Big 12 title game $100,000
Big 12 title-game win $150,000
Non-BCS bowl $100,000
BCS bowl $150,000
BCS title game $200,000
BCS title-game win $250,000
Season sellout $25,000
Top 25 $100,000
Top 10 $150,000
No. 1 in either poll $250,000
B12 coach of year $30,000
Natl. coach $35,000
AFCA coach $60,000
Looking at those incentives, I don’t see Kansas State having to pay out more than $100,000 in bonuses in any season.
If Kansas State fires Prince before December 31, 2009, they must pay him $1,200,000. The amount drops to $900,000 by Dec. 31, 2010, $600,000 by Dec. 31, 2011 and $300,000 by Dec. 31, 2012.

Wonder what the buyout provisions are?
Could that be the contract of a man intending a short stay in Manhattan on the way to bigger and better?
Can’t say I’d blame him.
But he’ll only get Greg Davis on the other sideline every two years.

With 2 consecutive wins over Mack Brown and the same against Dan Hawkins, I think they got a bargain. I have little confidence Mack will do that well vs. Hawkins.
I’d love to hear DeLoss’ justification for a $50,000 bonus for Mack for just making a non-BCS (can you say Holiday?) Bowl. Everytime I address the issue, he slips away or changes the subject. We’re THE University of Texas and have no business rewarding mediocrity. Of the remainder of the Big-XII, only Kansas State and Colorado pay a performance bonus for a non-BCS Bowl invitation.
