Velvet Revolver just got a lot better

They finally got rid of the most overrated vocalist in rock music, Scott Weiland.

Weiland sucks. There, I said it. I’m not pretending that it’s a brave statement of any kind because anyone with ears smaller than Ben Stiller’s knows Weiland sucks.

He’s Scott Farkas from ‘A Christmas Story,’ and every time I see him I want to pummel him mercilessly like Ralphie did.

Saw Velvet Revolver a few months ago at Stubb’s. Slash pwn3d. Still one of the best rock guitarists, and few can play with soul like he does. The rhythm section was tight. And then there was Weiland.

He was horrible. The guy has no voice. About the only time you could hear him sing anything was when they went acoustic. He’s a studio singer. That’s great for albums, but just know that your live performances will suffer. If I want to see albums sound like shit live, I’ll become a hip hop fan.

And he has no stage presence. He’s just an imitator. ‘What would Axl Rose do? I’ll do that! What would Steven Tyler do? I’ll do that too!’ Meh. Go do some more smack.

Now I’ve read Slash’s autobiography (shut up), and in it he said the reason that Guns ‘N Roses finally broke up was because Axl was too unreliable and kept screwing over the fans with his erratic behavior. So Slash goes out and recruits an unreliable guy with erratic behavior.

Did he even read his own autobiography?

I saw Weiland live in his late Stone Temple Pilot Days(Fall 2000). This is when STP’s new music sucked because Weiland claimed to have layed off the heavy drugs and he started to write songs inspired by sunflowers. He was awful, and was all homo erotic and didn’t sound nearly as good as his albums. The D-bag didn’t even play “Creep” or “Wicked Garden”. Velvet Revolver started awesome, and I thought Scott went back to his roots (taking heavy drugs), but then his ego got in the way again. Good riddance.

If Nirvana and Pearl Jam were the Beatles and Stones of the grunge years…STP was The Dave Clark Five.

Does this mean I won’t get to see a continuation of the “Fall to Pieces” video? Where we last left off, Duff was tenderly cradling Scott in his arms waiting for help to arrive.

    I’ve read Slash’s autobiography

Oh, this made my day. Was your other choice McCullough’s John Adams?

Doesn’t Suzanne Somers have a new book out?

Just a suggestion, but if your primary concern is music that sounds as good, or even better, in concert than the studio tracks then you should become a Martina McBride fan. Her concerts blow away her recordings.

    You’re welcome.

After reading Truman, David McCullough is forever dead to me.

but if your primary concern is music that sounds as good, or even better, in concert than the studio tracks

Well, that’s not my primary concern. As I wrote, I don’t want to “see albums sound like shit live.” I didn’t say I wanted to listen to shitty music.

Lyle Lovett is good live too. Saw him at The Backyard years ago.

I thought The Shins were good.

I saw the Stones live and was embarrassed by their utter shittiness. I told this to a friend of mine who is a music groupy comparable to the guys in High Fidelity. He literally almost cried at my ignorance and disrespect. He compared it to someone demanding to know why Applewhite didn’t run more option. Whatever, dude. I know suck and those cats fucking sucked.

Huck, I’m honestly not sure who Martina McBride is. I pay almost no attention to any country music made after 1990.

If you had a 7-year-old and a 4-year-old daughter that were both heavily into music and then had a vendor give you tickets to the rodeo, carnival, and Martina McBride concert you would probably know who she is.

Not half bad really, as far as country music goes. Being married with two daughters I get to watch stuff like Hannah Montana and listen to female artists.

You guys are tempting me to embed some Martina McBride videos. I assure you that you’ve heard the songs.

Apparently Barking Carnival rejects Martina McBride videos. You will all pay for this.
