Again, I’m not claiming to be all knowing about coverages and stuff, but IIRC, the point of the “Cover” tag is that those guys (however many the #’s is) have the responsibility to stay deeper than the deepest receiver.

Inverted 2 is just a different page in the playbook.

It’s called cover 4 because of the 4 across look the secondary takes, plus its easier to put cover 1, 2, 3, and 4 into a playbook.

If that’s what Chizik calls it, then he’s dumber than I thought…. I just checked the “Coaching football for dummies” playbook and the Cover 4 is indeed 4 players splitting the deep quarters of the field…. meaning that the Safeties would have deep responsibilities (see, Arkansas v. Texas 2003, Griffin, Cedric) along with the corners.

The inverted two, however, has the safeties playing shorter zones (almost like twin robber zones) in the middle with the corners splitting the deep halves.

I guess it’s all semantics/terminology.

Ross was just beat on one. The other was Ross being frozen on playaction and letting Figures run past him. CBs shouldn’t be frozen on playaction, and that’s on our stupid scheme.

Most of the other scores were on Chizik, too.
