OMG!!!! NCAA Keeps Ban On Text Messaging LOL!!!!

Most college coaches think that with the NCAA each day is ADIH, and that they already have the rulebook FUBAR, so it came as little surprise that the NCAA upheld the ban on
text-messaging to high school recruits at their convention this week. Some coaches felt that the text-messaging ban was SNF because it’s a universal trait among HS recruits and was a cheap way for schools without huge recruiting budgets to keep in touch. OTOH, there were complaints that recruits were being deluged with messages, and it was driving up cell phone bills. But most cell phone companies have programs where unlimited text-messaging is only 67 cents a day. LMAO!!!

FWIW, those who wanted the ban dropped didn’t put up much of a fight, and the vote was 79% in favor of keeping the ban.

OBTW, the NCAA decided to keep another new rule that will stick it to college baseball. Begining in the 2009-2010 school year, D-1 baseball teams will be limited to 35 players — 27 on some kind of scholarship aid.

RUFKM? As it is, baseball coaches only have 11.7 scholarships to divide among their players. This means that each player will have at least 25% of a scholarship. WTF? Well, with the NCAA it’s DDSOS.

As a card-carrying old guy (Class of ‘69) I’m pleased that I’m still at least semi-groovy. There were eleven acronyms on the original post that weren’t something obvious like NCAA. I threw out FUBAR because that’s a really old one from ‘The War’ and ‘Private Ryan’ and that leaves ten. Of those ten I knew seven, which is a marginally-passing level of grooviness and no small accomplishment at my age. Beers for everyone!
