Okay, I’ve got to say it.

Go back in time and couldn’t this just have easily read: “He could imagine them not changing a thing on defense, content to let the Longhorns run that play all afternoon. So, this is the result of 3 nights of film study of the … - a potential two yard gain that isn’t likely to work? Young found these meetings with the yammering offensive coordinator so … tiring.”

Strong start, with your own style taking over a bit at the end. For the record, Highsmith’s average words-per-sentence ratio is around 12.5, while yours is higher at 16.2 (the sentences get longer as you go along).
