All that matters is head to head. Mizzou is going to be a one seed. After all, they showed us who is the better team. The rest of the games are irrelevant.

I guess you forget Texas is a top 5 RPI team, top 10 in both polls, and is looking like a solid 2 seed in the tournament. Texas is also leading the conference.

The aggies will be lucky to make the tourney at this point.

You tell me who the big dog is.

"leaving no doubt as to which team is the big dog in the State of Texas"

I guess that we have already forgotten what happened 3 weeks ago in College Station. The exact opposite of Monday Night.

Steve, thanks man. Good recap. Must've been a great game to be at.

snaterly, I don't think they're peaking, I think key players are improving. Johnson, Chapman, Wangmene, and Mason are playing their best basketball of the year right now.

Chris, I heard that. I also heard the guy shooting from the lazy boy nearly hit his as well.

Barton, good to see your grades as always. DJ is adjusting to how teams defend him. It's tough enough to defend at the 3 levels of offense but when you throw in his ability to get teammates easy looks, he's a player of the year type talent. I agree, it should be a fun March.

Sailor, that was amazing. I thought it was James originally because the TV angle was so poor. Definitely a 4 year, Royal Ivey type leader on this team in only his second year.

Nordberg, it'll be interesting to see how our 4 kids develop. Sampson's late 90's ou teams come to mind. These kids have more talent, however, ans that'll show a couple years from now.

B. Reaper, bobby probably just watches basketball when they beat Texas.

Ag Lurker, I hear you on the officiating. As for injuries, there's not a team in America that can make a deep tourney run if its star player is injured.

South, good post. It seems like the Aggies have some chemistry problems (sorry Huck). Joe Jones needs to be more of leader but he's a quiet kid with zero cartilage in his knees. Y'all miss Law in a big way.

Huck, the same crew that did our game did the Baylor/Ou game last night. The broadcaster kept calling them the best crew in the Big 12. They proceeded to call the game so erratically that a couple players and a strength coach were thrown out after a slap fight. Then, with 7 seconds left in overtime and ou down 3, they called a horrible touch foul on the jumpshooter that lead to a 4 point play. Then they called a bailout foul on Baylor's desperation attempt with one second left. I guess it was a makeup call. The point is, we've got a problem with officiating in this conference. Call it consistently throughout the game and swallow your f'n whistles under 10 seconds.

huge, yep his Assist/TO ratio kept us afloat and largely went unnoticed by the media. I thought DJ played really well against Baylor eventhough he was 2-12.

Rasom, yep, we straight up guarded their ass on the perimeter, and battled every possession inside and on the boards. Aggie type teams should be our achilles heal, but we fought through our deficiencies and matchup problems and hopefully we can learn from that if we draw a Big 10 or Big East opponent in the later rounds.

ch, the 40 minutes of hell comment was right on. Nolan's teams operated under the premise that they'll be physical with you all 90 feet, fighting teams for every square inch of the court. They got away with it because they were deep enough and they knew there was no way officials could call every single foul. And they didn't.

Scagnetti, thanks. Great points. That was as impressive a defensive performance as I've seen from this team. Hell maybe the last 3 teams we've put on the court. Great job of showing up in a revenge spot. I hope our football team was watching.

oh man alive!
i dont have the words, really...

connor is just impressing me more and more. he FIGHTS!
seems to me that playing with Damion is working him up. those guys had some serious work put in front of them with TAMU beef, and came through it like warriors....

AJ was my only bleak spot. puts it up like he doesnt know how to set his feet. has he got tennis elbow? trying too hard to play like AI, his idol and fellow wearer of the elbow gauze? he may have had an anomolous game against Baylor, because he continues to depress me with his shot selection...

liked how he picked up wangmene's missed positional pass that one time, and how he bumped into wangmene on the subsequent trip down the floor. aly again out of position...

and yes, did wanna see more of dexpitt. we had the time and the pleasure to do so, but never gave him the minutes. there's the big beef with Rick's use of his big beef...

outstanding again, tripps.

i agree with the 40 minutes of hell comment. Texas defense was unbelievable. i was really impressed with Atchley's defense, when i have thought of him as a dishrag the past few years.

TExas definitely wanted it more. they were faster to rebound, lose balls, close out on shooters. its like they were everywhere.

Defense, defense, defense! The wrinkles Barnes added were tremendous. I LOVE the jumpout on the screens. You could see it bothered sheepaggy every time we did it. Atchley deserves an A++. The guy brings a lunch bucket every game now and just does whatever needs to be done. Same with Mason. One tiny gripe about the coaching: was it not possible to get DJ a few minutes rest in the second half when we were up by 25+? I know he sat once for about thirty seconds but good grief, JD Lewis is not THAT bad.

for all his shooting woes, did anyone else see DJs assist to turnover ratio in the past 5 games previous to last night?

something like 32-7

on shooting 22%

team was 5-0

Let's face it. Big 12 refs suck. Lots of refs suck. It's not a new thing.

The problem is that there is a large population of sports people that could do a better job than many of the refs we see working our team's games (not sarcastic). The problem is that these people would never want to ref the games and would never commit to a lifetime of being an official.

It's a relatively thankless job. And the typical requirements are that a person loves the sport, is willing to travel a hell of a lot, and doesn't have other commitments preventing their participation.

That's not a huge pool of people. At one point I was going to get into football officiating. Too much of a time commitment with a young family and my work, so dropped that one. I don't mind bitching about them when they suck, which is unfortunately pretty frequently in this conference, but there aren't a whole lot of better options that I see.

The only issue that I can really bitch about is that there seems to be a tenure-type situation with officials. I see the same shitty refs all the time in this league. I'd at least like to see some new shitty refs to find out if they're not quite as shitty.

You guys put on a clinic on how to shut us down last night. Officiating or no, you guys win that game handily.

snaterly: You guys are not in danger of "peaking too early". You guys wrecked Tennessee and UCLA before hitting a skid. It's a long season, and nobody gets out without a skid. I think you are playing to the level you played in OOC. I think it will carry over to the tournament, especially considering the practical home field advantage you guys will (most likely) have.

As for us, the Big IX race is doneskies. You and the Kansas teams can fight over that. We are just trying to get ourselves out of the NIT zone we have entered. It will take at least 3 more to get into the dance and the way we are playing, I'm not considering it a lock.

The moral of the story is: good game. You guys should be excited about March.
