Colt's Bringing Home the Dough(nuts)

In the best news ever, Colt McCoy will be opening 24 Duncan Donuts in the greater Austin area. My. Hero.

From our friends at the The Statesman:

Former University of Texas football star – and current Cleveland Browns quarterback – Colt McCoy is one of several investors planning to open 24 Dunkin’ Donuts locations in Central Texas.

The group, Coffee Action West LLC, has also acquired the area’s two existing Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants, located in Round Rock and on U.S. 183 in Northwest Austin, the company said Monday.

Cedar Park will be the site of Coffee Action West’s first newly built location, with plans to open by April 1. Of the 24 soon-to-open franchises, 21 will be traditional Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants. The remaining three will have Baskin-Robbins ice cream shops sharing space with Dunkin’ Donuts.

Financing for Coffee Action West comes from a New York financial investment firm, the company said.

"The reason we picked Austin, obviously, is because Colt loves it there," said Dale Mulvey, one of Coffee Action West’s partners. "I’ve also become hooked on the area. It seems like the perfect place for Dunkin’ Donuts.

For those of you not lucky enough to ever grab a cup of Dunkin' house roast - boy are you in for a treat. One of the biggest downsides of moving to the West Coast has been the lack of the double D.

This brings up so many questions:

  1. Did playing for the BROWNS inspire this investment?
  2. Does Shipley know you went with a different donut brand?
  3. Are you now officially the coolest guy ever? (Yes. Yes he is.)

Attempts to locate the legendary Longhorn QB's phone number proved unsuccessful. Again. In the best news ever, Colt McCoy will be opening 24 Duncan Donuts in the greater Austin area. My. Hero.

So - great moment in Texas History, or greatest moment? I can't decide.
