The 2014 Horns recruiting class landed a three star safety at the Stampede, Grand Prairie safety Jason Hall, ending what had been, to date, an in-state pantsing at defensive back.
Hall is a big-framed DB (6-1 1/2, 190) who is comfortable at CB or S in quality 5A high school ball with solid quickness and a long wingspan. He's more glider than explosive and lacks speed (4.7 40 guy), necessitating a move to safety at the college level where he'll need to be protected in coverage. He's pretty skilled when the ball is in the air though. His best offers were Iowa, Nebraska (where he was formerly committed), Oklahoma, and Baylor.
Hall - a consensus three star prospect - continues a trend of 2014 Texas recruiting takes that are well off of the traditional Longhorn recruiting map.
Welcome aboard.
