Kevin Durant about to return to the Warriors

The former Longhorn great has progressed well in his rehab from a sprained MCL and he’s eyeing a return as early as this weekend against the Pelicans at home. Durant will see limited minutes, but three more regular season games to reintegrate the superstar is exactly what the Warriors need before making their playoff push in a dangerous Western Conference.

Golden State initially floundered without Durant (at one point losing three in a row, including a blowout loss at the hands of the Spurs), but quickly righted the ship behind a small lineup featuring Andre Iguodala in Durant’s place. Iguodala has played lights out, Draymond Green did even more dirty work and the Splash Brothers started dropping threes. The Warriors even weaponized Javale McGee. God help us.

They’ve now won 11 in a row and have all but locked up the #1 seed in the Western Conference.

Adding one of the best two or three players in basketball should be a pretty nice bonus for the playoff run.

Given a full recovery, I like Kevin’s chances to hoist a trophy in June.
