Top 50 state of Texas recruit Byron Hobbs has committed to the Longhorns. Hobbs (6-3, 205, long limbs, a lot of room to grow) plays linebacker and wide receiver for FW Western Hills, but he’ll project strictly to OLB at Texas. He holds offers from A&M, OU and TCU among many others.
He’s also a standout basketball player and has the agility, proprioception and body control that you’d expect from a player with that profile. He’ll obviously need to fill out to play in college, but adding size and strength is an easy chore if the player is willing in the S&C game.
He’s moves really well in pads, can do things with the ball in his hands and has better functional athleticism on the field than his SPARQ score suggests.
Hobbs joins Justin Watkins (ATH, Florida) as the Longhorn 2nd commitment of the 2018 class.
