The Texas Longhorns landed their second 2018 commitment in small forward Gerald Liddell.

The ESPN 100 recruit had offers from Arizona, Kansas, Oregon, and others, but chose to stay in state for his college career. I haven’t watched a lot of his film — Jeff Haley is in charge of the recruiting chapter for Smart Texas Basketball 2017 — but the bits I’ve seen show a guy that’s likely to spend his career on the wing. He’s skinny but agile, seems like a good fit for an aggressive defense. I don’t have stats on how well he shot from distance in AAU summer ball, but his form looks solid so I think he can eventually become a credible enough perimeter threat that he’ll be able to utilize it to enhance his slashing ability. Also, Shaka’s run of recruiting guys with glorious hairstyles continues unabated.
