Longhorn QB commit Cameron Rising debuts with 359 yard, 5 TD performance

NCAA Football: Notre Dame at Texas Matt Cashore-USA TODAY Sports

The nationally ranked senior QB recruit missed more than half of his junior year, but he dispelled any notions of a rusty start to his 2017 senior campaign by debuting with 310 first half passing yards, staking Newbury Park to a 41-13 halftime lead, eventually resulting in a 55-34 win over Pacifica.

Rising finished 17 of 23 with TD tosses of 50, 25, 19, 16, 6 yards.

The senior has also added substantial weight to his 6-2 frame, checking in at around 220 pounds.

Now the Longhorns need to hold on to the highly regarded signal caller who, despite his verbal commitment, is said to still be actively evaluating other programs.
