The hay is in the barn after NSD2 and Tom Herman signed a hell of a class. Texas has 27 signees overall and is ranked 3rd in the country per 24-7, behind a loaded Georgia and Ohio State. On a pure quality basis (average ranking per recruit) the Horns still finished 6th which means Texas didn’t just have an inflated ranking due to the sheer number of bodies.

Here’s the class, courtesy of Texassports. 13 of the class in an early enrollee, which is nice.

The class was a particularly good at DB, but the ability to address the OL and DL late with several late risers and some really exciting projects bodes well for the longer term. If there’s a weakness, look to LB where the Longhorns will have a depth crunch next year and a borderline crisis in 2019.

Still, Texas started strong, held the line down the middle and then finished with a flurry. Pretty impressive for a 7-6 football team. Imagine what Herman will be able to pull off with a 11-2 type effort.

I’ll be breaking down players individually later in the offseason...this is your thread to admire, revel and discuss.
