The consensus 4 star from Loganville, GA committed to the good guys, giving the Longhorns their 5th pledge for the 2019 class.
Watson is a prototype CB with length, speed and size. He’s over 6 feet tall and measured out at a 4.5 40, 4.1 short shuttle and an absolutely ridiculous 45 inch vertical leap. That vertical leap figure is more about jumping ability - it’s about genetic potential. Watson is more of an athlete than a refined football player at this stage, but you don’t pass up those kinds of physical gifts if the staff believes that they can coach him up.
Watson’s commitment also reinforces a slight pivot towards OOS recruiting in 2019. This could prove to be an interesting strategy as Texas works to mitigate Jimbo’s push at A&M and out of state raiders like Ohio State, OU and LSU.
