An already thin position got more spare with this announcement. Freeman saw significant action as a sophomore in 2016 racking up 45 tackles, 2 sacks and 2 interceptions, but he played sparingly last year and was derailed in the offseason by a triceps injury.

Freeman, a former four star recruit, has remaining eligibility and, if he so chooses, can try his luck on the graduate transfer market.
