Texas-37, USC-14

Whew. Texas needed that.

A tight game early and a 14-3 Longhorn deficit turned into a old-fashioned country ass whipping for the Trojans as the Longhorns pummeled them for 34 unanswered points in the 2nd and 3rd quarters.

The Longhorn staff made some key adjustments on both sides of the ball. On offense, they discovered the middle of the field as receiver eligible against the vacated Trojan safeties and Sam Ehlinger made some nice throws to open Longhorn wide receivers.

On defense, Texas played more layered coverage so that JT Daniels couldn’t rely on arm talent and throws to spots, but rather had to hold and read. And they totally obliterated the USC running game.

Even special teams got into the act with a huge blocked field goal by Caden Sterns that was scooped and scored by Anthony Wheeler on a mummy shuffle sprint.

Man, we needed that.
