The Texas Longhorns (3-1...and soon to be ranked) exorcised some Gary Patterson demons with a convincing second half whipping of the TCU Horned Frogs.
The Horns were carried by an opportunistic defense that forced four Shawn Robinson turnovers (two Caden Sterns picks, a Bimage strip and a Brandon Jones gift) and a second half offense that took the lead with a spectacular Ehlinger to Johnson diving end zone post route and then sealed the win with a clock-killing drive of utter magnificence that ended in a 38 yard LJH TD after Ehlinger had a full five seconds in the pocket.
Texas QB Sam Ehlinger wasn’t perfect, but he competed hard and finished with an effective 22 of 32 for 255 yards and two touchdowns stat line with no turnovers. The backs ran hard and the Texas OL fought for four quarters. There was no question which team was more physical.
In that end, the turnover difference between the two QBs decided the game. The game ended, fittingly, on TCU punt on 4th and 4 down 15 with less than three minutes left.
TCU had had enough.
