Texas-OU Set For 11:00 AM Kickoff on Fox

Texas-Texas Tech set for Friday after Thanksgiving on Fox

Texas-OU at Cotton Bowl — at 11:00am on an October Saturday. A tradition like no other.

This time it will be on Fox and it probably will have the largest viewing audience of the week. That is the pattern for the early kick off especially when both teams are ranked.

Since 2012, the game has been in the early time slot every year but one, and even when Texas was down, the ratings were still near the top.

ABC carried the game at 11:00 AM from 2012-2015. During that span the game was either the first or second most-watched game of the week.

In 2016 FS1 aired it at 11:00 AM and it drew only 2.8 million which was still the most watched game of the year on FS1.

In 2017 ESPN had the game on at 2:30 where 3.6 million tuned in.

Last year Fox promoted it to the home network and 5.6 million watched the 11:00 am contest — almost 1 million more than the next game - 4.7 million for CBS broadcast of LSU-Florida.

The Pattern is clear. Texas-OU has a clean slot at 11:00 AM. CBS/SEC gets 2:30PM and ABC had the prime time game. Everybody wins.
