It’s raining OL in Austin. Welcome Andrej Karic to the 2020 Texas Longhorn Football recruiting class. Andrej Karic is a high three star from Southlake Carroll who, while currently listed at 6-5, 240 on 24-7, is checking in around 260 heading into his senior season. Karic’s film shows athleticism and quickness and he has the frame to put on good weight.

I’m a fan of growing offensive tackles from a good athletic base whenever possible and Karic looks like a fine example of that concept. Adding weight and strength to a big framed athletic kid is the easiest thing to do in sports. Every year professional evaluators miss this obvious point, much to the detriment of their rankings. If your S&C coach can’t add size and strength to the genetically elite, he should be fired. Fortunately, Yancy McKnight knows exactly how to do it. Now try adding athleticism, good feet, length and motor to a huge kid. Not so easy.

Karic is a project of sorts. But the end point of this project if he has the technical ability and willingness to put in the work is a starting left tackle. Karic also has some offers that outpunch his 3 star status: Michigan, USC, Auburn, FSU among others.

Former Texas OL Donald Hawkins, who works with DFW prospects tweeted:

The Horns are now up to 11 commitments in the 2020 class with a .927 class average. That’s the 18th ranked class in the country, but that’s with the least number of verbal commitments in the Top 20.
