Texas and LSU lit up the scoreboard Saturday night, and that helped ABC to light up the Nielsen ratings. 8.6 million viewers tuned in to the Bengal Tigers 45-38 win over the Horns. That number would have easily qualified as one of the ten most-watched college games of 2018.

Clemson’s 24-10 handling of Texas A&M preceded the LSU-Texas contest on ABC and pulled in 6.5 million.

The Labor Day game between Notre Dame and Louisville on ESPN was next with 5.6 million tuning in.

Two Big 10 Elites — Michigan and Ohio State - squared off on two different networks in the 11:00 am slot on Saturday.

Michigan’s OT win over Army had a viewing audience of 4.7 million on FOX, while Ohio State’s obliteration of Cincinnati in ABC’s leadoff contest of their triple-header had a respectable viewing audience of 2.9 million
