Coppin St. Eagles vs. Texas Longhorns Hoops: Preview & Open Thread

40

Denny Medley-US PRESSWIRE

Texas plays its home game of the Maui Invitational against a rebuilding Coppin St. squad.

The Coppin St. Eagles are not a good team. The Eagles finished just 6th in the MEAC last year, and lost their top 4 players, all seniors. Picked by coaches to finish 10th in the conference, Coppin St. has basically rebuilt their team with unheralded freshmen and junior college recruits.

The Eagles opened the season on the road, falling to the USC Trojans, 87-71. Freshman guard Patrick Cole scored 25 points, and graduate transfer senior Troy Franklin (formerly at Towson) chipped in with 23 points off the bench.

The team is basically a group of unknowns at this point, but what is known is that Texas should be able to easily dispatch the Eagles.
