Jones makes the 22nd commitment in the 2019 class. The Butler JUCO product had been committed to Oklahoma, but chose the Longhorns over a week ago and recently made it public. The high 3 star commitment gives the Longhorns the 7th ranked recruiting class in the country.
Jones goes about 6-4, 250 with long arms and a good frame for adding more weight. He’s best described as an above average athlete who is instinctively good at football. A lot of unexpected polish to his game. He uses his hands well, has a good understanding of how to set up blockers and plays with a ton of hustle.
He has three years to play two, which is a great asset for any JUCO given how he’ll prosper under Yancy McKnight. Unlike some JUCOs, there’s still plenty of upside untapped.
A very nice addition to the Texas defense.
