SB Nation BlogPoll College Football Top 25 Rankings "
On our podcast with Kegs & Eggs and In The Bleachers, I offered that the surest play of the weekend was the over for USC-Oregon and that USC would score in the 30s, but Oregon would still win by 3+ touchdowns. Oregon - 53, USC- 32. Oregon scored the last 24 points of the game and the precision, pace, and energy with which they run their offense is a mockery of the Texas game day viewing experience. Fun to see the bully boys of Troy served their comeuppance every Saturday.
Auburn has a lot of similarities to Oregon, though with a more forgiving defense. They just outscore people and Cameron Newton looks like the clear Heisman frontrunner. The Iron Bowl is going to be fantastic and the contrast in styles there will be a useful reminder as to why the college game is so much more interesting than the NFL.
Wisconsin comes off of a much needed bye this week and I like them to run the remainder of their schedule to secure a 11-1 regular season record with wins @ Iowa and against Ohio State at home. Not a bad resume.
Iowa is the best 2 loss team in the country that you don't want to see in your minor bowl, but Mississippi State may be my favorite. The job that Dan Mullen has done there has been exemplary.
How can an unimpressive Florida with 3 losses be ranked? They're getting better. I'm getting them in early - the game results of the next couple of weeks should bear out this move. And their losses (Alabama, LSU, Mississippi State) aren't exactly inexcusable.
The ACC gets two of my last three largely because I'm out of ideas. Why not Virginia Tech? A loss to a non-FBS school is stains them in my mind. They also haven't played anyone since their Hokie Chokey against Boise State.
I wasn't sure whether to rank Nevada or Maryland at #25, so I flipped a coin. Tails means you're out Terps.
