Texas State Bobcats vs. Texas Longhorns Hoops: Preview & Open Thread

The Texas Longhorns (5-4) take on the Texas State Bobcats (4-5) in a Saturday night game at Erwin Center that will be lucky to draw 1,000 fans. Winner gets an all-access float on the Guadalupe. Bring your own beer and Franzia wine bags.

The Bobcats have a deep bench, a long lineup, a modicum of experience, but are pretty much terrible. Junior wing Joel Wright is leading the nation in usage, contributing to 38.8% of Bobcat possessions. He's taken 34.2% of the team's shots but is shooting just 44.2% from the field. No es bueno.
Amazingly, he's not the team's leading scorer in PPG. He has 15.2 PPG to senior forward Matt Staff's 16.2 PPG. Efficiency, he haz it.

Per Ken Pomeroy, their defense is pretty good at forcing turnovers (24.2% TO%, 60th in the nation) and preventing three-pointers (27.9% 3-FG%). GOOD THING THOSE THINGS AREN'T ISSUES FOR TEXAS.
