Myles Turner to Take Official Visit to the Texas Longhorns on October 25

The five-star big man from Euless (TX) Trinity is still considering Texas.

According to Matt Scott, the lead writer for the Kansas Jayhawks 247 Sports affiliate, 2014 center Myles Turner will take an official visit ($) to the Texas Longhorns the weekend of October 25. That visit follows an official visit to the Ohio St. Buckeyes, which Turner plans to take the weekend of October 18.

Turner did not make his originally planned official visit to Kansas last week due to a Team USA Basketball commitment. According to Scott, Turner will reschedule that visit for sometime in November. Most recruitniks believe Kansas is the favorite to land Turner.

The five-star big man from Euless (TX) Trinity has not finalized any other official visits. Along with the above three schools, Turner is still considering the Duke Blue Devils, Kentucky Wildcats, SMU Mustangs, Oklahoma St. Cowboys, Louisville Cardinals, and Arizona Wildcats.

Assuming Turner follows through with his listed official visits, he will have two remaining. Duke and Kentucky appear to have the edge on landing those visits. An unofficial to SMU would also be easy enough, as the Mustangs moved into consideration after landing a commitment from Turner's friend, five-star point guard Emmanuel Mudiay.

Turner looks like the only elite 2014 prospect that Texas is still pursuing. Rick Barnes' big board looks particularly sparse right now. However, if Barnes can land either Turner or top 100 big man Khadeem Lattin, he might buy himself a lifeline with the new Athletics Director going into next season.
